I think they are the fruit fly maggots that stay in your overhead filter

yah, I have fruit flys on the surface of my 2-ft tanks too. Would these worms post any treat to the fishes or aquarium plants or water?

In fact, the last time when I was cleaning my 1-ft tank with a blue jewel breeding pair in it, there were a lot of these wiggling worms.

btw, reinmario welcome to AQ [] But please don't take offense at some of the anti-LH comments posted here. We're just airing some of our views and hoping that one day, the people will understand and learn to appreciate the beauty of pure breeds []

To what I know, my jewels actually eats them when they are out in the open when I stirred up the gravels. I am not sure if its the same worms we are talking about though.

Can you find any worms in your filter.... maybe you can give it a good clean when you're doing water change. Use back the water from the tank to clean the filter....
    Cheers!!

if the worms is "planaria"? use lots of salt to wash and soak the filter medium ,and see if they are reduced. They probably can't be remove completely.

what do you mean by planaria?

well i wash with hot water and soak the filter with hot water yoo. but normally the tiny worrm will be back in less than a week. it seen to be growing rom tens of number to countless.

    these worms are nematodes
they usually proliferate when you have excess food, or when the fish are messy eaters
try to vacumn up uneaten food and waste whenever you can
they should get lower in numbers
