ID: Catfish & Shrimp

Clarias teijsmanni correct? The distance of the dorsal fin from the head and the white spots along the flanks seems to indicate that. Interesting thing to note, during photography the fish seemed to be able to instantly expand it's iris to cover the entire eye for a split second before shrinking it back to what you see in the photo. Simply put, the eye flashed black for a second before returning to normal. Is this because this species darts in and out of leaflitter alot? Thus having the need for pupils that dilate instantly to cope with the sudden change in brightness?




Next is an unknown(to me anyway) shrimp. Very similar to the ones in my pervious posts but it's colouration is almost exactly the same as Macrobrachium malayanum.

C. batrachus has the same flank spots. try to get a dorsal view to compare the origin of the dorsal fin.

Surprise! He's grown! Can we get a positive ID now? It's quite impossible to get a dorsal shot as he's in my 6ft tank
