Any fish with a mouth big enough to clamp down on a shrimplet's head will eat the shrimplets. That would include ALMOST all fish... *Sigh*...
My Endler's will eat shrimplets...
I just found that dwarf pencilfish looks small enough to be kept with my boraras and cherry shrimps but just want to find out if any bros have kept them with cherries before. Scare they eat my cherry shrimplets.

I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted! ), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted! ), C.tonkinensis(Melted! ), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii
Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...
The dwarf pencilfishes will easily kill and eat baby shrimplets. As with all invertebrates, the best place for shrimps is in a species tank all to themselves.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
welcome back stormy!
And no i wouldn't put shrimp with anything that might nip at them... my large female malayanum got torn apart by my much smaller pond gobies
I have my cherries with my brigattaes and they seem fine. Probably due to the fact they are small and the amount of moss for them to hide.
Cheers,
Joe
Currently there are some 25 boraras with the cherry shrimps in my 2 ft planted tank. Looks like I have to scrape the idea of buying pencilfish then. Thanks for your advice. I know anything that can fit into the mouth of the fish is food but still want to find out if any bros tried before.
Justikanz, I know Endler/guppies eats shrimplets. They are always hungry anyway so I'm not surprised.
Thanks stormhawk and XnSdVd for your comments.

I look at the Endler's and I thought the mouth so small... But... *Sigh*...
Personally think tetras and barbs are also dangerous...

Tetras and barbs are scary as I think they look ok but when hungry, they attack as a whole so shrimps sure die. That is what I thought when I saw the pencilfish at Wu Hu. Too bad...

Hi Diki,
I've kept them together before, the trick was to have alot of moss for the shrimplets to hide. Sure, the fish was curious but the moss thicket kept them at bay. As a matter of fact, they are still together now but the shrimps have since turn adults.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.
Thanks michael lai for sharing your experiences. I know my tank currently does not have enough moss bushy enough to provide cover for them so I do not think that would work. Once I can get the moss to grow like crazy, then may go for it, if I still want to get them.

Hi Diki,
Even you have thick moss to protect your shrimp, pencil fish are still too curious to pick them out. I have seen on my own eyes they swallow the shrimplet even though I just feed them minutes ago.
Thanks shihyong for sharing your experience. I have actually killed the idea for getting pencilfish for my shrimp tank (too many disadvantages to worry about). Thanks for all that have shared their knowledge or experience on this.
