    Hi folks,

Since many people run into diseases when acquiring new apistos, would it be a good idea to list down most of the diseases and its solution to the diseases?

Yes, I support this motion. Maybe we can have a sticky if the information gathered is good, especially to help beginners and avoid repetitive questions being posted.

    A good idea.

However, I would say that this would be under fish care and nutrition forum as these problems are not exclusive to Cichlids.

Identifying the problem may not be too difficult, identifying the cause of the problem is tricky and the solution is the most difficult.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

I always used interpet one. Jap powder good for parasite not internal bacteria. I find that if we feed the apisto with vitamin supplement, less prone to get these outbreak. I used S7 and ADA Vitamix.

I heard that S7 is only added into water and not into food, is that true? I'm using Sera's Fishtamin.....do you add vitamin supplement into the water or to the food?

    caca,
some US discus breeders use a garlic additive to tetra bits before feeding.
i wonder if someone has tried this for apistos?
after reading your post i notice the slight bloating and lethargic behaviour with one of my pairs.

Try searching using the keyword "garlic". Can use garlic extracts or Seachem Garlic Guard. But these are not one-week-wonder kind of stuff, it's for long term health.

i used the ocean free product called anti-internal parasites for several days, the apisto now is able to release the waste and eat the food again.
