May 12 2006 was a public holiday, I went to climb Mount Santubong. This was my third climbing to this beautiful mountain. (2,658 feet)

The following day, I found someone who can drive his 4WD vehicle to bring me to visit some places I failed to visit before due to the worst road condition in a remote country road of south eastern part of Batang Sadong basin, more on this link:

The tunnel to the "hell"!!! The white band (beneath the peristome) of this species is actually the short & dense white hairs that are fed by some species of termites. This subterranean tunnel built by the termites is leading a big amount of termites dropped into the pitcher & drown to dead.

I pour out the fluid of the pitcher of Nepenthes albomarginata into my hand and found out a lot of dead termites.

First time found Nepenthes hirsuta growing on a tree trunk !!! Amazing !!!

    Stick insect. (Phasmid)

May 13,2006, a special trip to explore a river in Batang Sadong basin. First location is at the lower part of a river which is a tributary of Batang Sadong & the second location is in the middle part of that same river. Both location never visited before.

In the 1st location, a patch of Cryptocoryne longicauda found less than 2 metres from a patch of Cryptocoryne ferruginea near the riverbank, under the shade.

    A patch of Crypt. ferruginea.

    Close-up picture of Crypt. longicauda.

Second location is another locality of Crypt. uenoi. This river located not far away from another river (different river) where the Crypt. uenoi was first discovered.

A patch of Crypt. uenoi (under the water).

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Thanks Choy. I just edited something....that halfbeak is probably D. collettei (not 100% confirm).

And those Channa are C. lucius or some of them probably C. bankanensis, not melasoma.

I allways thought C. longicauda was a swamp grower and C. uenoi was sanddish and fast flow grower...

Really amazing pictures and places you allways show us!!
