This time it's happening to me.

Since 2 days ago, my fishes was dying on me. So far I've lost at least 10 Apistos, 2 checkerboard, 8 cories ,2 rummynose and 1 SAE. So far I've been doing 50% water change daily. Yesterday I tried using carbon. Cleaned my filter with tank water but still the same.

The funny part is that they did not show any signs of disstress before dying. I can see some red patches on the body of the dead fish. There was no sign of white poop nor any of them gasping for air. However, one of my sterbai eyes were like swollen..... NH3/NO2 poisoning?

    Water parameter: pH-7, kH-2 and NO3-10ppm, temp 31deg.

Can someone help diagnose wats wrong?
    Cheers!!

Could it be the heat? Last few days was damn humid and warm.
Anything unusual at the water surface?

So sad to see your apistos go...

    Juggler,
The heat is normal. My tank is normally 30 to 32deg.

    Vinz,
Dun think it's yur plants... actually my very hardy albino cory first died after I started removing my E.tenellus (due to BBA). Could it be due to excessive base fert in the water. Water now is clear though....
    Cheers!!

sound like acute poisoning.... copper (from pipes? Try letting the water run a while before filling in), insecticide?, household chemicals (splash into tank while cleaning/mopping?), misting from workers fuming outside?

Measured your N and P? What about PH?

The fert in the water may have thrown things off.

What do you add in your substrate? Tabs/spikes?

Those spikes and tabs for potted plants contains very high and concentrated NH3. If those spikes have softened and mixed into the water, it may have caused a NO2 spike.

the red patches are very suggestive
nitrite poisoning could cause internal bleeding with symptoms similar to those u described
    get a nitrite test kit
    change water
add any salt with chloride (kcl, mgcl2, nacl etc)

    Why salts with chloride?
Anyway, fast growing plants like Frogbit, Hornwort can also help soak up the excess nutrients/ poisons?

because the cl- interferes with nitrite uptake

So sorry to hear that. U mentioned about the red patch at the fish body. Is it near the stomach area? If that so, it might be some kind of tetra diease. I have encountered this before. It wipe out my rummy noise swam of 50 in 2 days and even spread to guppies and apsito and pencil fish. I don't know u got any medium size fish like atum, discus in your tank. If u have it, u notice they are not affected. I have no document proof or any source on this diease, this is my encounter 2 years back.
