    RAW is a type of format you can save your pictures to, just like JPG, GIF, etc. The difference is that RAW does not use compression so it is like a digital negative.

    But I don't remember Canon S3IS having RAW mode, does it?

    no it does not. not a very good cam for aquatic close-up.
    why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
