The LFS at my place informed me that they might be brining in altums and did bring them in once but the problem is that the folks around my neighborhood do question the price and according the owner, those who do buy them, end up not being able to care for them.

She said that each Altum would roughly cost $15-25 (probably the diameter of 5-6 cm only) larger ones are more expensive. There's also a X altum + scalare that's about $10 per piece, looks weird if you ask me... half altum/half normal angelfish.

    That would be Bedok?

Anyway, always afraid that I will mistake young normal colouration scalare as young altums... Then will really be cursing and swearing... Else, $15-25 seems a very good buy... Hmm... *suspect* *suspect*... haha...

I was at C328 just now but didn't see any of the so called localy bred altum. Maybe you can place an order with her. Besides these Altums I would recommend the newly introduced Brazilian Altum (don't know the real name though) I was introduced by Ms Karin some time back. They look quite nice.

Check the striping on young fish for altums. They're seasonal and I believe that that around the corner (July or so IIRC).

that 12 dollars 2" one must not be altum. the recent imported Altum that less than 2cm size was selling for ~S$20, and a 4" adult altum may go up to S$150. but a 1" peruvian angel is S$6 only.

btw. there's no so called peruvian altum in the world.

    No, there isn't.

Peruvian Altum is probably a name created by commercial sellers so as to sell P. Scalare at P. Altum prices.

There is a such thing called the PERUVIAN ANGELFISH. Sorry guys typed the name wrong, (not peruvian altum)
I think the peruvian angelfish has the head tip and tall body shape of an altum but the scales/colouration of a scalare angelfish.

I also read somewhere that the peruvian angelfish was found in the same waters that scalares live. Altums do not live in this area. I also read the peruvian angelfish is a mix of wild altums and scalares.
