can tell is C. teijsmanni?
In a recent trip to the fabled "Badis Island"
A very deep pool, the bottom was actually fine white sand. Incredible! Spotted a fully grown Clarias teijsmanni swimming around the bottom too.
Look at all the C. griffithi and wenditi! Covered in silt by the recent rains though.
Under a massive fallen tree, we found MORE griffithi!

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

i was wondering the same thing.
lol, i'm quite certain... i doubt you'd find the common walking cat in a tiny river. That and i've never seen one bigger than 20cm so it's safe to assume they don't live in this river.
Are there any other catfish in singapore?
Shall post shots of the catfish i have sometime later today
It appears the only way to be sure is to check the position of the dorsal base position, especially if you have smaller specimens. Doesn't C. batrachus live in streams?

C. batrachus is a brackish water fish. I see them alot in the pasir ris area. But i doubt they'd be as far inland as badis island

This tree is HUGE!! the root section is the size of a car! a car!!
Hairgrass! and crypts?
Unfortunately the lower regions of the river were.. urbanised? Well dug up anyway. All the fauna have disappeared, the huge two spot barbs that were once common there are missing. And all that's left of the 30m stretch of hairgrass is... well, just look:
Notice the man-made shovel/changkol marks on the banks? Hopefully whoever did it had good reason. Though i'm still saddened by the loss of all the fish. NATIVE FISH!
Just wondering where is this 'Badis Island'. In Malaysia?
Badis island is where you get "Fish from badis island"
