I used to have these problems too when I was rearing marine fishes..
It always happen at night when you are sleeping and the next morning you see dead fish right? I guess maybe some fish you rearing not compatible ba..
Hi bros, my tank has a mixture of cardinal, neon and some feeders like guppies, 2 small corydoras and 2 feeder shrimps. The guppies started reproducing and i manage to get some beautiful male. But recently, my male guppy all died, one after another. There isn't really any sickness or whatever, cause only male guppies were swept out. The bodies were eaten up by the shrimps.
Then about every week, one tetra will die. Notice one more this morning, body was like chewed up, left some white flesh. Every now and then can see my cory chewing on it.
Is it praying on my fishes? What can i do to stop the decceleration of my fishes population?

Hi iewnuj, i warmly welcome you to aquatic quotient. Seems like you are facing the same problems. But i just wanna make sure what are the fish to remove. Anyone can confirm it with me? ThanksOriginally Posted by iewnuj
Hmm. I myself had this issue when I first started my tank, the initial portion was OK, however after 3 weeks or so, the fishes started dropping like flies, for my case it was due to the activated carbon in my canister filter that was spewing back the toxins into the tank.
Maybe, do a ammonia & nitrate test on your tank to see its levels first. Also additional information on your setup, etc would be good.

remove the feeder shrimps... they are known to attack small fishes with its small claws... especially at night when the fishes are asleep...
guppies tend to be real zombies at night, resting at the tank bottom... easy targets

What about the corydoras? should i remove them as well?Originally Posted by mordrake
no need, they're just scavengers... probably feeding off what's leftover by the shrimpsOriginally Posted by kendrick_86
