From time to time, i might get a E1 or EI on the LCD display panel (mine is a CL280). I don't have any manual on this, can anyone help? What does it mean E1/EI?

    CL85 cannot chill ?

    Hi,

I recently bought a CL85 and just set it up.

For 3 days now, I cannot get the water to go more than 3-4 degrees below the room temperature.

I am setting it at 25C and the room temp is around 30C. Can only manage to stabilize it at 27-28C. Do not think is is working very well. Even with FANs I can get around 28C.

Not sure if I need to pump in gas or something.
    I only have a Jewel 70 which is around 20-25Gallons ?

    Any advise is appreciated

    Hi cysiong,

I think the manual will state the recommended flow for the different chillers.

Yes, the manual did state, but the pump outflow is greater than1200L/H. Id I used a 440L/H pump, is it ok?

Just a pale of water with a pump and 2 hoses will do, no hard setup.

If your test without water how do you make sure it can chill the water?

Once you connected with pump and water than start the pump, set the temp to something at 22C than wait around 30 secs for the chiller to start kick in. Moderate the amount of time to chill from default water temp to the targeted temp. I assume it should stop within 2 mins with a pale of water only. If the kick in time more than 5 mins than I can say it need to topup gas.

Klyve I have the Resun CL-280 manual what Info do you need?

    I will type some here:
    Power: 1/10HP
    Voltage: 110V/60Hz or 220V/50Hz
    Ice Medium: R134A
    Pump outflow: >900LPH (>238USgal)
    Refrigeration Capacity: 280W
Recommended Tank Size (Set temperature: 22C/72F): <280L (<79USgal)
Recommended Tank Size (Set temperature: 25C/77F): <450L (<132USgal)
    Weight: 14kg
    Dimensions: 31x30x35 (cm)

The graphic that comes next show CL-280 performance curve through 36 hours:
Air temperature remains close to 31C during this test.
Tank temp starts at 28.5C and
    drops to 27C in 1 hour;
then goes below 26C at 2 hours,
    hit 23C at 4 hours,
    21C at 6 hours,
then slows down, reaching 20C at 8 hours,
    19C at 10 hours,
    18.5C at 12 hours,
    18C at 14 hours
and stays on or around 17C form hours 21 through 36.

Looks impressive, but keep in mind the manual says this was obtained in 150L (40USgal) water volume with 1,000LPH flow.

    I have a 4 footer, 40USgal tank, with 1,400LPH flow (nominal max), and mine starts-turns off-starts aqain every 10 to 12 minutes.

So this reflects performance at unusual operation (test conditions that ends up with water temp to 17C!).

The rest of the info is alike as in CL-650, as for assembly and maintenance. If you can't find this manual I could mail one copy for you.

Experts suggest not using CL-280 in tanks longer than 2.5 foot. I'm considering upgrading to the CL-650.

    Resun CL450

Got a used Resun CL450 chiller for my 2'x1.5'x1.5' CRS tank - around 90 litter of water. Temp set at 25C and using 3x 25W T5 light set and lights on around 10 -12 hrs.

This CL 450 chiller every time kick in for 3 mins from around 26.4C to 25C and start to kick out before it reach 26.4C than kick in again. The question here is :

Kick in time about 3 mins - from 26.4C to 25C and cut out.

Next kick in time will only last around 4-5 mins depand on ambiant temp. Feel like something is not right, could it be the thermastat got problem ? Please help.

    DKNY:

What pump flow do you have? It seems your flow is too low. Watch your electric bill. I kept my unit running like that for the first month, got a significant increase in my bill (close to 300KWH in a 31 days month).

My CL-280 was behaving like yours, I upgraded from a powerhead rated at fixed output of 1,400LPH (Resun SP-2500) to an adjustable 6,000LPH submersible pump (Resun Flow-6000). To experiment I adjusted my pump to minimum, left it like that since it runs beautifully now: start-up/off: 45 minutes; off/start-up: >60 minutes. Let's see how my bill comes this month!

Re: Chiller Manual - Resun CL650

    Hi guys....

    I'm currently using resun CL650.
    My pump is only 1000L/hr.
It seems that the temperature varies a lot, do you think that if i change to higher output pump, will the temperature closer?
It seems that the cooling is working fine, just that the temperature drop in my tank don't tele cause the chiller run longer that it suppose to be....

    Advice needed.
