    Hi all,

    My green lotus leaves, have been eaten again by an unknown culprit. Anyone have experience on this, or can help point who would be responsible, on the stand are;

    Bio Load :
    19 Cardinals Tetras
    2 Emperors Tetras
    2 Golden Red-eyes Tetras
    2 Pencil fish
    2 Columbian Tetras
    2 Helicopter (Sturisoma sp.)
    1 Dwarf honey gourami

No sentence will be served. Any advice to help prevent this, would be great, i guess i should feed them more?

None of the above... I think.

    Nutrient deficiency... maybe?\

Any photos of the victim and information on the crime scene (tank parameters, fertilisation, etc...)

    Hi Hi,

However, as i wanted to snap a pic, the leaf has been totally eaten, only leaving the thin stem.

Someone is definitely munching on it, as i can see biting patterns, on the leaves. No pic as my cam is down with no batts, and the leaf has been totally consumed, leaving little/no evidence.

Looks like this culprit is one sneaking leaf muncher. E.g. Before i went out(7pm) half eaten leaf was still there, now i check, total leaf consumed. I will now question the cardinals one by one, in seperate interrogation rooms, but i suspect the Gourami, it does act alittle fishy.

    Tank is 2 X 1.5 X 1.5 (no Co2),
weekly small dose of Excel + Ferka Aquatilizer + Ferka Balance K,
    Ada Aquasoil Africana,
Water temp range between 27-28.9 C
    55watt PL light

my guess would be one of two fish that you have, the columbian tetra or the red eye tetra, they have both shredded hygrophila when i used to have them.
but saying that most fish will destroy plants if they are not getting enough food.

    Detective Mick saves the day!

I really did not know that those tetras are avid plant eaters... ... but it really seems that your tetras have acquired the taste for juicy lotus leaves.

    Could it be the gourami?

Those red-eye tetras are really fiesty eaters and very very greedy, but eating plant leaves? I thought they be more macho than that, heehee.
