Been reading Diana's Ecology of The Planted Aquarium.

Wondering what are the opinion of forumers who have read the book.

I think a low tech tank as prescribed in the book will have healthy but slower growing plants (which is great) and most likely red plants will not show their brilliance as much (which is not so good).

The book does give more insight into planted tank ecology and some possible answers to our algae problems beyond the balance of N, P, K and lights. Also the possible causes of certain plants growing easily in one guys tank and not in another (Eg. Alleopathy).

    What do you guys think?

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

A woman: without her, man is nothing.

The only things I followed from her advice is the soil substrate and use of normal flourescent lights. It works well. Other than that I still use CO2 and liquid fertilisers.

The book is good in that it tells us the chemistry going on inside the tank.

I've tried searching Kino Kuniya's online catalog, but nothing found.

I suggest that you borrow it from the library first then decide if you want to buy a copy to keep.

I find some of her advise to be unsuitable for our climate, eg putting the tank near a window, etc.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
