    Family Plantaginaceae
    Continent Europe
    Region
    Country of origin
    Height 3-5 cm
    Width 3-5 cm
    Light requirements medium-very high
    Temperature 1-25 °C
    Hardness tolerance very soft-hard
    pH tolerance 6-7,5
    Growth slow
    Demands medium

Littorella uniflora grows in swamps as well as under water on sandy substrates low in nutrients in lakes with soft water in Northern Europe and North America. Whether in the wild or in the aquarium, L. uniflora requires good light conditions, but if these are provided, it forms runners and creates a close, light green carpet of rosettes of short, stiff leaves, and it is therefore an excellent foreground plant. L. uniflora can absorb CO2 from the water phase like most other aquatic plants, but can also absorb CO2 from the substrate through air channels in its roots and leaves. This means that L. uniflora is comfortably viable in an aquarium where CO2 is not added to the water. [Tropica]

seems like this plant will be a better option to using E. Tennullus for a carpet look...
    Quite an interesting looking plant...

But the temperature seems on the lower side...

Very interesting plant, indeed a better option to E.Tenellus. Will adds a character to a scape with its carpet look. Just a pity about its low temperature survival value.
Wonder is it avaliable here in singapore!?

This FarEast should be able to bring in if it is ordered from them since it is from Tropica...

Seems like it is growing tall... but still a very beautiful looking plant...
What's your water temperature? Within the stated range suggested by Tropica?

    Reminds me of Lilaeopsis brasiliensis.

Jeffrey: It's a beautiful plant. Looks good for a foreground or midground. Hope I see it around sometime. Thanks for sharing!

It is putting out alot of runners from a single bunch! That's scary... Means that it probably can cover a foreground pretty quickly...

Did you trim it like trimming hairgrass? Really considering replacing E. tenullus with this plant...

Yes, I've never tried this plant before. So, It's really surprising when I found that it could grow a lot of runners from a single motherplant. The runners are very long; each about 8 - 10 cm.

Sorry, I don't know how to trim HG I've never tried it in my aquascape. I just cut the long leaves (emmersed leaves) with sharp scissors.

So you just snip the leaves at the top? Like how you cut your hair? (That's how we trim hairgrass... )

No, I mean I just remove all of the long emmersed leaves. If you cut in the middle of the leaves, I think it'll rot away. IMO, the trimming method is same like how you trim Vallisneria sp.

Okay. Thanks for the information. I will probably be ordering a pot to try.
