Wild fighting fish; Betta cf ibanorum "Pugu".
This is the third time to explore Pugu area. This time, I saw more destruction in this area.....forest clearing for oil palm plantation & also, illegal logging. It was raining for the whole day.....in the mid of dry season. The changes of the climate (raining almost everyday in the dry season) is caused by global warming??? When humans will appreciate the mother nature and when they will realize what they have contributed for global warming???

All the rivers here are acidic blackwater.
The white sandy Kerangas forest. ("Kerangas" is Iban language means land which can not plant paddy)
The logging track. (illegal logging)
Most of the fish in this area are blackwater fish such as Puntius hexazona, Rasbora pauciperforata, Rasbora einthovenii, Rasbora kalochroma, Luciocephalus pulcher & many more....
Photo below: Most probably Channa melasoma. This fish is released back to the river after photographed it.

well.. its nice cos its definately a flower mantid.. even has the shape of Theopropus elegans...but that cant be said for the colour..
Almost certain its in family Hymenopodidae.. Subfamily Hymenopodinae... which also includes the infamous orchid mantid Hymenopus coronatus.
both species mentioned above are the more common ones of this family seen in this region.. even though you dont see them that often..lol..
Thanks....Originally Posted by ranmasatome

Nepenthes rafflesiana
Really breathtaking pictures once again! I find this rafflesiana especially intriguing as its lid is held so high up than the usual species, with such a long peristome. Beautiful. I want to come to the kerangas forests one day.
