i got the same problem, when to boon keng to check it out.
according to him, there is no real solution, but with a chiller to pull down your temp to 25C would reduce and help.
most probably yours is rather same as my, now at 30C

Same problem encountered. Someone(customer) at NA introduce me to Seachem PhoseGuard and another product that absorb nitrate. At the same time, I also installed a chiller with temp between 25.5C to 27.5C. Together with physical removal of at much of the algae as possible, introduction of the red claw shrimp, this hairy algae disappeared in around 2 month time. Now still fighting against BBA.
the only way to combat it, is manual removal
I covered my tank using papers for 2 weeks.....& changed more than 50% of water. Now, the algae is almost gone.

Hi Mike,
Some fishes like Puntius Odessa are ferocious hairy algae eaters. You can look into similar natural solutions for this hairy algae season.
Cheers

get some yamato shrimps will help abit..
Dose EI. Keep up the CO2. That seems to deter wierd hair algae from coming back. I also like shrimps for general cleaning.
