I got this beautiful red plant during chrismas season last year at pasir ris farm because it looks like a chrismas plant . Its reddness never fails to shine regardless of what condition of my tank, nitrate level or light intensity.

It is a slow grower but surely it grows taller and taller reaching the surface of a 2 ft tall tank. It is a stem plant but the leave is just like those cryptocoryne, tough and wavy.

Did a search but couldn't find it exact name. Could anyone help me to ID this plant as it deserves a name on my list?

For those who like to have a shade of redness in their tank, i would recommend this plant. My tank is a high energy tank but observing its character, i believe it is very suitable for low maintenance tank

Alternanthera reineckii. Quite slow growing stem plant that is underappreciated for some reason.

Thanks butak! I did a search on tropica with the name given by you and they stated it will grow out of surface. I am waiting for that to happen

Careful that while growing out of the surface, it won't get burnt by the lights. All plants like to grow towards the light.

i think its underutilised only because of its large leaves.. it wont suit a small scape.. for larger tanks though.. this plant works well.
