Cant believe it, it's a all European show-down in the quarters!

Talk about what golden generation of England, Argentina, Spain. Attacking football is out and dirty football is in!

Anyway, England deserves to lose, their self-imposed siege mentality sucks bad, hope McClaren does a better job.

the four semi-finalist team, none of them are my favourite.

England are just not ready to emerse as world champion yet, certainly hope to be in the next world cup.

    Portugal is my favorite.

The rest of these clowns have won in the past and do not seem worth winning.

Lots of cheating, bad refs and fouls this year.
Ghana played some pretty soccer but got elimitinated.
Brazil lost on their own, they had several chances to score and it just did not happen.

Now they know what's like to be the USA in soccer
Ukranine did very well for their first appearance.

But now my hopes are on Portugal...that would be cool if they won.
I do not think England will win.
They will most likely be eliminated the next round.

i'm with Tom in this one.. PORTUGAL!!!!
All my favourite teams are out due to stupid referees..e.g. Argentina.
This was the same guy that called italy's free kick with australia just literally 1-2 secs before the game ended. And it wasn't even a foul!!! omg!! i hate this ref..

To show my faith in Portugal, I bought them to win the World Cup outright at $17.50 odds. 10 bucks equals 175 bucks. Good deal heh?!?

This year's refereeing has been horrible!
Even Rooney red card is a question... Was it for the stamp or the push?

I will support Portugal too... My favourite team Argentina is out. Very sad. peterman will be sacked i hope for not playing Messi, Saviola and Aimar

Now Crystiano Ronaldo will show us some magic.

My only real wish... Hope france does not win the worldcup or go to the finals. I am watching the game in French, and the way the commentators described the game, hmm bias, complaint, etc, very bad for the ears...

Go Portugal Go! It's the only team in the quarter 4 that has not won the world cup.

But Germany may do some magic in front of their public. Hope not, since they kick out Argentina

Till then, (me sleeping ) waiting for the semis to start.

I prefer Germany in the final quartlet. Their buildup is very good, and I must say Ballack is a very very good player, his attacking and defending instincts are very apparent in his box to box runs. I also like Poldoski's direct football.

Not for the push on Ronaldo. The referee did not penalise that, he knows that these two are teammates. also, ronaldo did not fake falling down after the push etc.

the red card was for the stamp, that was not accidental, it was purely intentional. Rooney is a great player, but very bad character.

But overall, refereeing was very very very bad. With good referee, the outcome of the Tunisia vs. Ukraine game should be the opposite.

and ref lost control of holland vs. portugal game. we can also go on and on citing examples like that. My god, the standards of fifa referee took a severe blow.

Apparently, from don't know hear from where one, the referee from Singapore is ranked in the top few referees! But seems like due to some political reasons, only certain countries referees are chosen for quarter finals onwards...

Honestly, i watch one or two games where the singapore referee was "playing". Hmm, i expect better performance. But indeed, it is fair if he did not make it through. If not wrong, he was doing the argentina vs. cote divoire game. Very bad ref for that game... Also he has no experience of big game.

Hmmm, bad referee because simply of poor formation, bad selection and the pressure of technology to spot thier smallest mistake.

Graham Paul I've heard (I can't confirm) showed 3 yellow to the same player before giving the red card. Very sad indeed if that was correct.

Agreed, this world cup is all crap, England being the worse ,they cant even score from penalties (3 times), the referees are terrible they can win the world cup themselves.

I don't think the tournament has been that crappy to that extent.

Players are human beings, human beings have emotions, the more when bonus money, pride, a chance of history making, are all at stake. Defensive football is in, because too much is at stake. The common mentality is that as long as you don't concede a goal, you don't lose a game. (nevermind the Swiss went out with a perfect defensive record)

While incidences of pitch brawling took the limelight off the game; the fact that unfavored national teams of Italy and France emerging as finalists, reminds us that things are not always as bad as it seems.
    Cheers,
    Andrew
