not sure, I think NParks have jurisdiction in all public green places. Budak should know this sort of things.

this location is at a huge piece of thick bush in the middle of no where leh.
anyway i just sent a email to an Npark personnel, lets see what she says.

that contraption is a trap?? seems like the trapper meant to leave it there for a long time since he provided food and water to keep the brid in good condition while hes not there. Maybe its a cage of sorts for someone that left it there for soem reason like research or soemthing.. not too sure.. but if it turns out that no one owns it.. then just release the poor fella.

theres a colony of them flying wild in the south of england as it's milder weather than up north, there's also another colony of quacker parakeets there, it's a nice sight to see even if they aren't native to this country,
no-one knows where they come from but they survived and multiplied.

yeah they usually do.. however i find it strange that a bird like that would get itself trapped in a contraption that i'm still trying to figure out how it works.
that is one complicated trap.
Can it be the trapper is trying to use this bird to lure other birds into another trap nearby?

i think you are right about trapping other birds.

notice there are two sets of food trays? and there seems to be two levels.
the trap also, imo, looks like it works like the common rat traps we get in SG.
the trapper is also maximising his chance of a double catch as there are two individual compartment traps on top.
the trap has one compartment below and two on top.
i think its working on the mating season concept!!

I used to see the malay guy that Lake Aquarium used to hire as shop assistant using the same method to trap 'mata-putay' (spell?) outside the shop with his groups of friends..
Without the bird as lure, you will be trapping monitor lizard instead..

Looks like a home made contraption.
The poachers are smart not to do their dirty deed in the designated park areas, but unfortunately, the birds won't know better and may still wander beyond protected boundaries to their demise.

Ahhh... i see.. the bird enters the trap from above and releases the catch allowing the door to snap shut. Hmm.. not the safest of traps.. especially considering parrots investigate things with their beaks.
Poor bird might just poke his head in and have the door slam down on his neck... Hmm... ironic that it looks like 1 mouse trap and might end up working like another.
