finally got down to my hands to modify my fish tank stand to a more "cabinet-looking" stand..

just to share the photos with u guys.

    before modification

materials needed: 4X same size plywood for the sides+door

Lesson learnt: i ask the aunty for 9mm wood, ended up having 5mm wood, 5mm wood tends to curl (not flat). so nxt time better buy thicker wood to have flat surfaces.

i bought a roll of self adhersive wood surface foil to beautify the surface and here it is after pasting the foil on top...

    ToTAL cost of DIY project:

    1) Plywood: 9mm plywood, (aunty gave me 5mm..damn..can't be bothered to return to argue wif her)
    8m by 4m = $16

    worksmanship: $6
    total for plywood = $22

    2) 1 pair of knobs for door= $2

    3) hinges + screws: <$2

    4) Self adhesive foil bought from DIY shop: $18 (neighbourhood selling ard $16.50)

    Total cost about $44..
    satisfaction:$$$ priceless

you should be able to do something about the "warped" doors. get aluminium curtain railings and fashion these into reinforcement for the back of the doors. this should help to minimize the warpage. however, you may need to re-beautify the doors again.

i think you ment to say
    SATISFACTION <>PRICELESS
good job on on cabinet, might talk hubby into blowing the dust off years of accumulated power tools. But I think the shock might be to much for the kids!!
