I use Sera Aqutan. So far so good...
I also use it to condition my fishes before adding them into the tank. Seems to be good at calming the fishes.

I'll recommend Seachem Prime.
It removes both chlorine and chloramine, and locking up the ammonia from the breaking down of chloramine.
It is not the cheapest around but still less than Duplagan and offer much more value.
Seachem Prime is a good choice. It is not too expensive if you get a big bottle and it can last for quite a bit as only a little is required for a large volume of water. Can't remember the proportion but you can check the label.
I have been using Genesis so far for my home tanks by faith. No problems.
In my office tank, I did not use any treatment after the weekly 50% water change. I think the plants may have helped to remove any toxins in the water. I didn't notice any problems as well.
Makes me wonder: did any one encounter problems if the tank did not use any water conditioner? Please share.

I've not used water conditioners for over a year now on all my tank setups. No problems. I guess I'm either lucky with my tap water or water conditioners are not needed with Singapore's water.
Of course, they're all planted tanks. Non-planted tanks might face problems.
My 3ft tank is about 4 years now and nowaday, never conditioned the water when changing water. No problem, even a 50% water changed.
I have an 80G storage for weekly WC, no conditioners used.
If using direct from supply via house water tank I use Activated charcoal to remove chlorine.
If rescaping/draining whole tank I have some Aquaplus/Sodium Thiosulphate crystals on standby.

There were so much talk about PUB increasing the dosage of chloramine towards end of last year. Not sure about you but rather than take the risk, I got the water conditioner (Nutrafin Cycle) from then on.
HAIZ .... now that you guys raise this issue, kinda feel like this whole saga maciam Y2K .... all that smoke but no fire!
BUT on a brighter note, i m going to finish using this last bottle and I AM GOING TO SAVE SOME $$$ by not using any water conditioner.
Thanks to you guys for sharing !!
there are some other cheap good water conditioning.. sucha s nutrafin and genome, genesis.. all these work well for mi..
Juz started to do without them for about 1 months plus. So far so good with my weekly 20% water change. Previously, I used Tetra aquasafe until I decide to cut costs.
Cheers!
I use water conditioners because i'm afraid the chlorine will kill the BBs. If water change is only 20% or 25% than the impact on the BBs is probably minimal but if its more and if your tank is heavily stocked with fishes than it's better to use water conditioners.
I believe most of the guys here who don't use anti-chlorine don't test their tanks water parameters a day or two after water changes for ammonia and nitrite if large water changes is done (eg 40% or 50%). So we don't know what impact it has on the BBs except that the fishes look ok and water is clear. We'll only know for sure if the water is tested.
Why risk the lives of our precious fishes?
i been using only aged tap water for my daily top-up to replace what is lost due to evaporation. previous using ocean free stuff to treat the water prior to my weekly 20% water change but when i am lazy, i'll just use aged tap water. so far, negligible or no casualties of fishes or shrimps within 48hrs after water change. am i lucky?
