What is the current plant you have on the driftwood?? Perhaps can look into why the plant not doing well.
Moss(many types to try), pellia, mini pellia, ferns, fissidens...etc, can consider depending which suit your scape and requirement!

The Happiest of people don't neccessary have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way
When will there be 25 letters in the alphabets?
how about crypts???can they be tied?
I don't think they will do well, but I have seen them doing that in Hong Kong. Very interesting presentation, but I didn't not have the chance to take a picture.Originally Posted by rtcc86
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
personally, i would still go for moss with driftwood combination
i would go for moss or ferns as they do well on drift wood.
don't worry, be happy
Can also consider Anubias. They are low-light plants and their roots can eventually grip the driftwood stronger than the Mosses or Java Ferns.

I personally prefer different ferns & anubias on driftwoods. Nice mix and match. Still, everything would depend on your scape.

I have mosses (java and taiwan) on the driftwood for 1.5 year and these grew very well. But it is difficult to maintain as they rot from the underneath and soon the tie could no longer hold them down onto the driftwood. I was told that the situation could be better if I have a chiller in my tank.
So every 4-6 months, got to take out the drift wood and re-tie the mosses. Hence, I just get rid of all the mosses.
Why not thinner your moss when it get dense.
I just put out the moss from the wood.
Saw some shops selling Hygrophila Deformis tied on driftwood. Is this advisable ? Thought Hygrophila Deformis are stem plants, will they grow well being tied on driftwood ?
Stem plants look best if planted in the substrate.
Probably the H.difformis can be tied on driftwood but it will outgrow the wood it is tied on very quickly, right? It's a fast grower.

Bolbitis Heudelotti.....stunning African Fern, does well tied to the wood and also likes a bit of current, can withstand coolish temp aswell. Slow grower but awesome looking plant
