I failed to kept it flourishing under low tech maintanence. So i assume it needs proper lighting, co2 and cool temperature.
Hi there,
My mini pellia is flourishing under these condition.
26 degrees, 12 +- hours photoperiod, forthnightly change of water with weekly dosage of TMG, pH 6.7. My pellia and fissiden are flourishing as well.
Yeah its not demanding.

I'm using fan also. But manage to keep temp around 26/27 degrees throughout whole day. My view is maybe get small quantity($2) to try out. Anyway, they will propagate quite fast once adapted to your water.

26/27 degrees is fine. My lighting system is T5 24W X 2 running for 12 hours so should be alright. From experience without CO2, pellia maybe will not be thick that's all.

hi guys,
oic...thanks for the help...are there any chemical that can replace the role of CO2?
thanks

You could try liquid CO2 if not wrong it's Flourish excel or increase your carbonate kH.Originally Posted by stormydax

pellia is like moss ... give it clean cool waters and it will thrive ... they grow even thicker than moss
there's no need for high lights, co2 or even fertilisers
... always look at the bright side of life
hi guys,
flourish excel?...think its quite expensve...hahaha...useful?
thanks

Mini Pellia and Pellia are different.
Pellia is less demanding. It can grow in <30C, non CO2, low light.
Mini Pellia need colder water<28C, preferable with CO2 and medium light.
CO2 Cylinder is still the most economical and consistent way to supplement CO2 to your planted tank compare to chemical CO2 or DIY CO2.
hi guys,
as mine is more of a nano tank, what can i do about the CO2 aspect? will the floursih excel work?
thanks
yours sincerely,
Storm
Hi Storm,
You can adopt the non-CO2 method but keep your temp cool and clean. The mini pellia should do fine.
