spotted a tank full of pygmy corys at tiong bahru, listed price $3 (i think)
hello to all Plecorymaniacs,
i just bought a small school of 6 corydoras pygmaeus. they're big for their size but they're doing quite well in my community tank. i was just wondering if anyone here can give me extra info about the pygmy cory. damn cute lil' buggers. i used to have one skunk, one sterba, one panda, one bronze and several habrosus cats living in the same tank but one by one they all disappeared. strange eh, but this time round, the pygmies are doing just fine. i'm wondering more bout their diet. i'm looking for an alternative to tubifex worms and bloodworms. any suggestions? info and help greatly appreciated.
regards, [] []

FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.
spotted c. pygmaeus in b328 clementi... pretty active (healthy?) ones too.

whoa... tb's pygmy corys are indeed c. pygmaeus! i used to pay only $1+ for them...[:0]
but noticed that these in tb & b328 are bigger than those being sold months back.

stormhawk,
My red-tailed corys chow down on anything and everything that throw at them - floating Sera flakes, sinking TetraBits, frozen blood worm and, recently, frozen beef heart. Now that's what I call variety or is it!?
Cheers,
Roy
roy, yea thats quite a great variety of foods. makes em healthier than just eating one type of food. boring eh? ahaha. at least yer fish are chowing down. thats a great sign.

To each her own fish !
petfrd
i feed them brineshrimp and sinking pellets ( mini sized ones )
they go crazy when i feed the brineshrimp !
Mine eat almost anything. Algae wafer, tetra bits, hikari carnivore, frozen blood worms and those that stay in the same tank with my discus gets extra big because they eat beef heart.

Been feeding them brine shrimp, daphina, wafer and flakes...they seems to take any food quite readily...i have even tried feeding them spinach and yes they do feed on them

Wow, you guys just dug up an extremely old thread from 2002!

Since we're on this topic..Does anyone know why each time I added in a batch of C pygmaeus (6), there would be 2-3 losses? Considering the proper acclimisation, water parameters/quality, are performed correctly? I could never understand - just like the initial introduction of otos - always suffer 20-30% losses! After the initial stage (1-2 weeks), the fish number stabilises.

I added them with no loss... key is to buy healthy fish, acclimatise properly...

Guess you were right...the most recent batch I've added were from c328. I had to scoop the fish from a small betta container with the crowd of people squeezing to get pass me. I certainly did not scrutinise well enough when buying.
