Remember reading somewhere that they do help get rid of the dreadful hair algae. At times, they also go for shrimplets. No experience with them though.

Most of the pencil fish are claimed to be algae eaters. The cigar fish is reputated to be the most effective. One LFS owner guaranteed that rockets would clear my algae. I've yet to claim warranty.
What are their diet like? I put in dried food and frozen blood worms, but none caught their attention.
Anyway, they are in my tank for just 1~2 days, perhaps they "will" after while longer.
My rockets will take dry and frozen food.
Give it time, some LFS feed them with live food to fatten them up for sales, so you might want to start off that first such as getting live worms or daphnias. Once they have climatise to their new home, introducing other food should be easy.
Anyone can advise where can I get coral red? I got it 2 years ago in Gan and were quite expensive then. They are from Peru right?
