I'm one. But I only like the Frontosa from Lake Tanganyika
Lyon © I would rather walk a thousand leagues then to see your ugly face

I'm two. I've got a TAnganyikan tank setup. Frontosa, leleupi, julies. Hoping that they'll start to get horny soon![] []

    James,

Malawi are much more colorful and have a great personality.

The only Tang I would keep is frontosa.
    My fish passions:
    -African cichlids (especially Malawi)
    -Catfish
    -Red snook (petenia splendida)
    -Discus

Me! me! Brichardi, leluepi and calvus.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    Mez,

Normal colouration. He's growing real slow... less then 3 inches now. But he's holding his own now against the gang of 3 slightly larger N.Brichardis, used to be bullied a lot.

artvale, are you keeping any at this moment? Will a 3ft x 2ft be enough for 10 fish?

    Hi foxemty !
Yes me keeping mainly moori , sp. blacks and few duboisi.

The bigger guys tend to fight now and then , and the fighting can get very heated , sometimes going on for a few minutes constantly.

The tank size is enuff for 10 fish , provided they are still juveniles , can tolerate one another better.
Which species you have now or are intending to keep ?

Good to find fellow tropheus lovers !

    Jade,

The tank looks great. Notice you have some A. Calvus too. They are cool. If you watch them, you'll noticed that they seldom back off and will show their sides to any attacker. Apparently, they have razor sharp scales which will hurt any biting lips. They also shell spawners, so you might want to get them some.

If you ever revamp the tank, think about building a few rock piles. Gives them more hiding places and fishes that are being bullied can hide on the other side of the piles instead of being cornered into a hole or chased constantly.

I had stopped keeping them for a couple of years back. Was keeping duboisi then. Thinking of keeping them all these while but i didn't have much success with the duboisi that time so decide to stop for a while.

Ya, read that they are very aggressive fish and sometime too aggressive. Where is a good place to get tropheus nowaday? seldom see the yellow band around these days.

Yep tropheus in general are very aggressive , sometimes more so than their Malawi mbuna counterparts.

But duboisis are supposedly the most docile of the trop genus already...haha.
My 3 adult dubiosis are already quite fiesty....like to disturb one another.

The yellow band you refering to is duboisi ? Or sp. black ?
Either case , hard to find adults , and even then price wise will be steep.
Good to raise from young i guess.

What problems you faced last time when keeping them ? Dietary issues ?

its the sp black, black head and body with a bright yellow band.

The other time , I got the duboisi in very small numbers, 1-3 a time and they will usually die suddenly without warning. later I found out that its better to buy them in a larger no. they have a high chances of surviving. I was feeding them those vege based flake.

Thats one fish thats tougher than apisto []
