I have been observing my oto for the past 2 weeks and was abit bewildered to find that it was him/her who creates those little cluster of bubbles at the water surface of my tank.

On a closer look, it appears that the oto's poo is transparent and it will float together with some bubbles that are released at the same time, which resembles him/her farting. As far as I can recall, I thought oto's poo are suppose to be dark colored and sinks?

    Can anyone advise, please.

Hmmm... my oto's poo are dark and sink also. Not sure what you are looking at. Could it be something to do with diet?

Hmm I'm not too sure what is my oto munching on.. have never seen him going for those algae wafers or any food I throw in. Wonder if the normal green algae is enough to sustain him?

Also noticed my oto likes to stick its head out of the water too..

Perhaps it's time to do a check on my water parameters..

Just did a pH test and was shocked to see that the reading is around 5.0-5.5!

Is it recommended to raise the pH by adding baking soda?

Transparent and poo with bubbles could mean internal parasites. You might want to check on that area...

Thanks for highlighting the possible cause.

However I have checked for symptoms of internal parasites but nothing shows the oto is suffering from it.

The oto is suddenly doing all those normal poo again after 2 weeks.. I suspect it might be the diet like what oldman8 mentioned.
