    Hi bros,

Encountered another problem last nite. Found one of my tetras with white spot on body. Segregated the fish to another small tank. Shorthly thereafter, it died. Something wrong with my water? Plants? Rocks?

    Pls advice. Thanks

You have to advise the specs of ya tank in order for others to advice you.

In anycase, it was the right thing to do to separate the infected fish, imo, once tetra (esp neon) is infected, the recovery rate is almost nil.
Another thingy. STRESS can lead to itch infestation. One of the stress factors leading to the ich disease is the sudden drop in water temperature... USUALLY coupled with things like sudden or large change in water parameters, introduction of new fish, fighting, bullying etc... can add salt when changing water.. helps a little.

Hi,i've seen some ulcer like white stuff on the tails of my cardinals as well.
I didn't isolate the infected fish.I just pour the anti white spots solution for 4 days in a row. It's in a blue liquid form.
(Due to reason i cannot catch him, he is too fast)

And Vola, now the ucler is gone...
I've heard that the diesese have different stages in the water.May it be in egg or other form, the anti white spots solution will destory them all.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for responding and your advice. My is 2 ft tank with 40 tetras. 50% water changed last Saturday. 2 types of plants with 1 mth old (don't know the name). One big brown rock.

Can I add salt directly to the water now?

Personally i hate to use medication, but since yours is a really 'simple' tank, with only 1 specie of fauna, no harm trying it.

Yoz bro Jake, thanks for the 'coconut tree' :P

Since I had bad experience in pouring medicine into tank (beautiful & high attached effort riccia wiped out), I never pour any medicine in the tank.
If found any fish with somekind of illness always take it out for medication.
And I found that the most effective & efficient way to medicate fish is by adding salt (I forgot how much tsp per liter water, you can search in this forum...).

If white spot caused by stress, usually will gone in 1 - 2 days.

I think there are several brands in the market,
I' using the one called "Interpet" of something like that.. (spelling)
I'll WILL stain anything it comes in contact with.

I add 5 ml to 10 ml to my 4 ft tank.
