Imho they're rather like ADA's style. I'm trying out Ferka Balance-K and Aquatilizer for my ADA Aquasoil Amazonia tank. Good results so far, although a little algae on the glass has appeared.
Hi guys,
Anyone using Ferka's liquid fert or the capsules? Can share your experiences and results? I'm considering to get the whole range of Ferka's liquid and capsule fert...
Thanks!

Any other macro nutrients you dosing as well ? Or you purely dose these 2 ferka liquid fert only ?Originally Posted by |squee|
Seachem Equilibrium after every water change... because my HM were showing translucent leaves. I feed fish everyday too.
Keep us posted of the results!!

Sure thing.
Imho ADA, Ferka, Tom Barr's method; they all work. I'm just trying out different ones since I have leftover Ferka's fert. I'd like to try a ADA Aquasoil with Step 2 and Brighty-K one day.
People have also reported good results with Ferka capsules. I think budak uses Ferka base fert for his 4ft tank too.
nice to hear that....I'm having ADA Aquasoil only, with root monsters.....thinking of adding ferka capsules at a later stage...meanwhile i'm thinking of using its liquid series for normal fert regieme...its price is not that expensive too

Is ferka liquid fert series capable of catering PO4 and NO3 ? Or you purely reply on daily feeding for PO4 ?Originally Posted by |squee|
Ferka is my initial choice until I see so many of you folks here using seachem so I turned to seachem products instead...
ferka aquatilizer does not provide po4 and no3 if i'm not wrong...
i'm using aquatilizer as a source of micros for my tank, coupled with my Lushgro NPK fertilising regime,
so far so good, no algae, and plants are growing well

I feel like using aquatilizer for the micros too... rather then seachem trace.Originally Posted by taz_boy
Yeap, Aquatilizer and Balance-K don't contain nitrogen or phosphate.
I assume in my tank that nitrogen comes from Aquasoil, and phoshpate from the daily feeding (I used to feed on alternate days during the dry-powder regime).
It seems that I need gH increases because my HM are showing transulcent leaves and they are not rooting well to the substrate. I'm adding 1 teaspoon of Seachem Equilibrium after every weekly 50% water change.
I dose 4 squirts of Aquatilizer and 4 squirts of Balance-K every morning.
It's a standard 60cm tank, the Ocean-Free brand one.
Lorba should see this thread and comment! He's using Ferka for all his tanks if I'm not wrong.
Every morning !? That's cool... What's your filtration system like ?Originally Posted by |squee|
Yea every morning... what's so amazing about that? I'm still in a polytechnic, and it's now the holidays so it's much easier.
It's a Atman 3335 external filter, Biohome, sponges, ceramic rings.
hi guys,
I can roughly explain how FERKA fertilizers are composited to suit the various level of users.
Both the liquid (Aquatilizer and BalanceK) does not contain N and P as they are the two major compounds that can cause uncontrolled algae growth if dosed in excess or in unbalanced proportions. This allows beginner to use without fear and for the advance guys, they will probably have their own supplementary methods. (Read here for more)
Of course, FERKA does cater N and P in other product, such as the capsules. The capsules are inserted into the substrate and thus, there will be less worry of N and P flowing free in the water column.
For me, I dose both liquid to my planted tanks almost every alternate days. I dose about 50ml to my 3x2x2 stem plant tank every 2 days, running on 2 x 150W MH. Also about the same dosage to a 10ft tank with crypts, hairgrass and bolbitis.

Add some KNO3 and PO4 to see if the HM condition improve. Seems like some macro deficiency if the CO2 is well take care of.

WOW! 50mls.... guess i'm a bit stingy on the dosage

50mls is probably overdosing according to the recommendation, but there doesnt seem to be much problem with it when coupled with larger water change per weekly.
Anyway, this tank is filled with red stem plants and i do not really need too much N.

squee, you dose 4 pumps of the Aquatiliser and 4 pumps of the Balance-K daily for your standard 2 feet tank? I thought the dosage direction states 1 pump for every 100L daily....there's no problem there with your tank in overdosing??Originally Posted by |squee|
Excess is fine in moderation for all kinds of inorganic nutrients. The only thing it hurts is the wallet.Originally Posted by Hanako

Not a problem. I assume the concentration is too low for my glossostigma, HM, moss and hairgrass tank.
Lorba doses quite lightly imho?
