i coudl give you a rough description of what animal that skull belonged to.. ifyou have larger pictures of the teeth sturcture.
You guys wouldn't believe what i found at a certain river...
Looks to be a mousedeer... or a huge rat... or someone's chihuahua. Choy or Benny, if you guys know of anyone who might want the skull let me know.
And look here! there were at least 50 pugnax living in a 2 section of the river that was only 2 meters across and a meter deep. And the 16++ ones in the photo were attracted using a laser pointer!

If you're wondering, the parts of the skull are fused(mature animal?) and the thing has molars. I'll upload a shot of the teeth soon.
that doesn't tell me much...lol..things like placement of teeth, type of teeth, shape and number would tell me more... so i think a picture is better... ITs definatley a mammal though.
keep it first, maybe the RMBR might like to have it.

ERGH!!!!! i need the front 2 teeth!!!!!!!!!! lol..show me the FULL dental structure.. Not a mousedeer or rat or squirrel for sure..Judging from teh space for incisors in the front.. i doubt there would be more than 3 each side?
Looks reptilian to me, common monitor lizard?
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.
Mike... its a mammalian skull..lol .. see how its fused with many muscle cavities and the cavity for a large brain?
Moreover.. you can see that the foramen magnum (portion where the spinal cord comes out) is located near center of the eyes... also see the 2 knobs beside it (NOT the bog obvious ones.. those are the auditory bulla or typanic bone..showing well developed hearing system)? Those are the occipital condyles..they articulate with the atlas which is the first neck vertebrae.

Well.. it could be a few things..my guesses..until i can get larger pics of them all..
1.Order Scandentia, Family Tupaiidae, Common name.. Tree Shrews...
Problem... The skull is huge!! and there seems to be no postorbital bar (bar that separates the eye socket into 2 sections, Temporal fossa and orbital fossa)
2. Order Carnivora, some small carnivore..Problem.. cant see full skull
3. Order Insectivora, Family Erinaceidae... Cant see full skull.. but this one is really doubtful
4. Order dermoptera, Family Cynocephalidae, Genus Cynocephalus..common name Colugos. need to see entire skull..the teeth just look toooooo weird to be this..
Is there some link where i can see them all in large picture format?? its actually a little hard because theres no lower jaw.. but think making inferences should be okay in this case
Whatever it is, I want to go and explore these places
How about i provide transport for the start ?
Methinks i shall reshoot. Didn't manage to find the lower jaw and i'm starting to think i found a chihuahua... but the skull's too elongated. Choy, if the RMBR want's it i'll gladly give it to them. It's sitting on my shelf now making my cat curious
oh! it has 4 holes where the "front teeth" should be. Post pics later

If possible.. take pictures of the full denture, top view of skull, both side views and back view so that i can see the bones in the eye socket... or you could just enlarge the photos up top and the ID should be much eaiser. Dental structure is denfinitely very similar to those found in dogs.. but without the lowerjaw.. its not for certain
how's your time this week? we bring it to the museum, talkcock a bit then go TB Ben for lunch.

Haaha.. thats what its like...you never know it could be something good..the key to collecting specimens is never overlook anything.. even though you may think its common...
Anyway.. dont give so fast.. take those shots first..i wanna ID it..kekeke.. test my mammlogy skills... haiz.. so long never use liao.
Anyway..looked through it again knowing now it has 2 top incisors...and tried squinting at your small pics..
Most probably a Canidae... dog like creature.. with a missing jugal bone to complete the zygomatic arch.
Otherwise.. it would fall into Order insectivora..but those without the zygomatic arch can only be found in the african region and probably cuba and hispaniola...
So yeah.. most likely a dog of some kind.
skull so big it better not be a rodent or insectivore.... so scarely!
