Filter brand wise, try going for Eheim. So far it's a favorite amongst aquarist here. I would recommend the Eheim 2028 which I currently using. It will be quite ok but it will still depend on your budget. The cost is around $300.
    Cheers!!

Go library and borrow Amanos's books and show her the beatiful tanks. Bring her go fish shop to see nice tanks too. Plan a nice location to put the tank and convince her it adds to the house decor. Tell her she can relax watching the fishes.

Last but not least, tell her that between her and the tank, you'll be so busy, she don't have to worry about you straying...

Just tell her it is the same effort in maintenance compared to a 2ft tank, isn't it?

must suck up a bit- long time before.
Then find a fish she likes & find a way to keep it(everyone has one)- the rest of ur fish choices are up to u how u plan to assimilate without being nag at too much. Bound to be some nagging. But more movies & a few extra dinners won't do u any harm.
Mine won't let me get rid of my triggers.Dun care much abt my discus but only watch the puffers & everytime i buy something else i get questioned why haven't gotten a boxfish yet!!(which i dunt want)!?.Buy New tank again, nag, nag.

guess she thinks i spend too much time on the tank, 2ft plant & 1ft (penta)malawi...so small....[]

but hey it's her home too, just got to be happy with what i have now... perhaps someother time will try agin, this time with re-enforcements(the kids...)

but probably have to assure her i'm getting rid of the rest...., is it easy to sell???[]

looking for a external canister for the 2ft now...

on the contrary, the bigger the tank, it is able to withstand some levels of mistakes as compared to a 2ft.. and maintenance is lower.. ppl tend to equate larger tank with more maintenance.. but that will only hold with a larger quantity of tanks.

u can just post the intention to sell here.. i'm sure u be able to get some buyers.. there are alot of fish-mad forumers here..

Brandon, boxfish is very cute.. but gets very disruptive and aggressive when it is big.. dun advice u keeping it lor.. but like u mentioned, sometimes, just have to pacify them.. hahaha

I was recommended the AZOO CF-1200 canister filter for my new 4ft just last week. Not too bad, quite strong output.

fei- since its a 2ft why not try those taiwan canisters? cheaper ones like resun, i saw the small one $80, or u can get the smaller ehiems 2217 etc from TPY69 within this range too $$70++to$80.

oh Kelvin i know i know, every time i see them- but just can't mix in case get chased or harrased then i get the whole tank poisoned!if i get to choose i would go for the yellow one or maybe a cowfish, cool horns.
i already explained this to her & accepted. But now i owe a species tank in future-....[]
