I heard that bio gravel aside from promoting bacterial growth, it also promotes algae growth, especially the BBA. Is this true?

BBA is always a CO2 issue. You need to do either a proper non-CO2 setup (low in CO2 levels) or CO2 setup (stable high CO2).

I use seachem excel for my CO2 supplement, so far I never had BBA when I dose it weekly. However, does bio gravel in general promote growth of other algae
