Believe I read that some forumers recommend using KMnO4 (Potassium Permanganate) solution. I've not tried it myself.

Not too sure of the concentration of the solution nor where you can get the solution in the first place.

use 1 part bleach to 10 part water for a quick swirling around.. then wash in clean pail of water and soak in another pail of water to look out for snails..

as for algae affected parts, simply cut it away.. not jus partial of the leaf but the whole leaf..

u can buy Potassium Permanganate from pharmacies ... drop a few drops into water to make to make water pinkish ... soak plants in them for 15 to 30mins and rinse thoroughly after that

u'll be surprised to see roaches, snails, worms and even centipedes coming out from the soaking
... always look at the bright side of life

Do take note that when using potassium permanganate for plants you can over dose but not for fishes.

I'm sorry i can't remember whats the dosage for treating or quarantining fishes. Normally i judge by looking at the colour of the water.

Does this method work for moss and pillia as well? or do I need to reduce the dossage for those type of plants?

    Hi ,

I have tried using Potassium Permanganate to Quarantine my plants , it does a good job , but not good enough since it will not destroy snails and snail eggs and parasites , The best way to Quarantine any plant is to give them a 24 to 48 hr Dip in Potash Alum . this way u will be sure that all the snails, snail eggs and parasite will die. i have tried it and it works like a charm all the time.

    Hello All,

Yes, it is Aluminium Potassium Sulphate , you will mostly get it in powdered form in different quantities of 250gm, 500gm... so on . you can use 3 to 4 Teaspoons of Potash Alum with 25 Litres of Water , Dip the plants in this mixture for 24 hrs , then clean the plants in Running water for 5 to 10 Mins. This should take care of everything.
