Baby black belts, thats what i very strongly feel they are. Unless they are hybrids...but chance is slim.

Characteristic tar grey body, deep grey specks throughout, already hints of red at the fin. Very faint red seen on some of the babies , near the face area and the front belly.

$5 was what the aunty quoted.

Look for her, she knows her fish better and quotes accurately.

It is worth it if you always wanted to get some.

they are very young, abt 1" plus.
still have the horizontal strip across them.

there's still a single small blue-eye left and one keyhole cichlid left in the tanks.
the blue-eye's situated on the left hand side of the shop when u enter and it's in one of the bottom tanks.
the keyhole is on the first tank on the right hand side, 2nd level of tanks. []

it should still be the most common juwel (Hemichromis bimaculatus)
yes there is actually a lot of blue on them esp when they get older. Sometimes fish dont really exihibit true coloration in shops, esp when they are young

Black belts are cute but big fish..so thats a consideration too

there is another more rare one the letourneauxi but it is not so blue

there is another one not common here too, the lifalili , has got blue but not as thickly spread as the common jewel.

so my deduction is that you have the good old bimaculatus

nope that aint the fish, it looks like the common jewel or whatever you have put up there, but the whole body is sparkling with blue gems man. will try to take a pic soon. the blue covers more of the body than any other fish and 1 look and yoou will say its blue. malaysia hey were calling it lightning blue something something...
