This is a photography trip....I didn't bring my net, so really no idea what kind of fish can be found in the streams there. Now is the inter monsoon season.....raining almost everyday. Water level in this river is still not so high.

    Paradise on earth:

Taking photo at the riverbank. The water is brownish because of the mixture of blackwater and clearwater in the upper part of this tributary of Sungai Sarawak.

    Loach, Nemacheilus saravacensis.

Tiger barb (either Puntius tetrazona or Puntius anchisporus) nibbles on my feet. It is very rare to find tiger barb in southern Sarawak. The locals always thought the common Puntius kuchingensis is tiger barb.

A blackwater stream. It looks like a perfect habitat for wild fighting fish. As I forgot to bring my fish net, so I have no idea what species of fish can be found here. I'll come back here again.

Found Crypt. striolata for the first time in blackwater stream.

Barclaya motleyi (in submerged condition) found abundantly here. This plant is the dominant species here. It grows bigger than Crypt. striolata in this stream.

This fern, Certopteris sp. can grow in submerged condition.

Probably Pandanus yvesii. Found abundantly along the riverbank.

I hope the water level is not too high during my next trip to upper part of this river. Raining season is coming.

    meddle?

There aren't any more such places in Singapore. And soon those in Sarawak and West Malaysia will be gone too. This is called Development and Progress.
