    Good day to all!

I'm currently looking for a tripod(not urgent) for travel purposes, don't really want to lug a very heavy tripod & walk all day. So my concern is light weight.

I'm open to all brands. It must be sturdy enough to support a max load of roughly below 5kg. Solid enough to take breeze and wind.

My rough budget will be around $400 for the tripod + ball head. I know it's not enough to get a decent one but i'm trying my luck.

Please feel free to advise me on this matters.

The brands i'm looking at currently are : Benro, ppcp, manfrotto.

    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers!

for $400 you can look at CF versions. but I suggest you look for something small/short and most importantly lightweight. my personal favorite tripod is the Slik GM Pro, although not CF make, its small and light enough, comparing to my Manfrotto 190b I lug along during my bangkok trip a whole day

Take a look at Feisol CF tripods. Great prices for CF pods.

5 kg is a lot to support. What exactly is your setup like?

Both the ballhead and the tripod need to be rated for 5 kg and above. Even used Chinese brands like Benro, S$400 is quite a challenging budget.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

No choice can't afford to get better ones like gitzo or the higher end ones.. i don't mind a second hand tripod thou as long as it's usable and not too high.

Please help me to look out if there is a very good offer in CS as i do not have internet access during camp hours. Thanks in advance!

    So no other recommendations?

Setup will be some tele lens like the 70-300 or 70-200 with the 350D + Grip. I'm trying to travel light so i guess lens should be around 700-800gm body + everything will be below 4kg.

Simon thanks for the recommendation, i'll take a look at slik Gm pro thanks!
    Cheers!

You can consider Manfrotto 724B. It is not as light as Slik Sprint Pro, but should be light enough (1.41kg). Supports up to 3.5kg. But don't expect it to be as sturdy as those carbon fiber tripods.

The other one is Slik Sprint.

Dang, just noticed that you were talking about SGD versus US dollars.

Here's the Feisol site if you're still interested.
