Need advice on how to grow Japanese hair grass. I got handful of it and it start to rot. Does this plant require cold water? Lighting requirement? My lighting is 3W per gallon. Substrate requirement?

Any idea what is the scientific name of Japanese hair grass?

    Thanks

Not that dense, however I only use sand (should I called it sand or gravel?). Anyway, I mix the sand with fertelizer. Cant remember the fertelizer name, I bough from NA, it was brown color and suppose to be mix with sand. My water temp is quite high 29.5C-31C.

    That's the problem: temperature.

Keep it at least below 28. Fans are great.

My guess...CO2. If you dose enough nutrients, its always the CO2. Temperature does not impact hairgrass that much imo.

Thanks, let see what happen after I dose it with flourish excel for couples of days. Only 1ft tank, so I do not use gas CO2.

Then use less light and go non-CO2 (stop water changes and use only about 1.5-2wpg max of light.). 3wpg of PC light without CO2 is asking for trouble.
