I just noticed my A. agassizii red male has a swollen (bulging) right eye today. I just changed water this evening after 2 weeks. what could be the reason behind this? Whats the best treatment for this disease?
Fish load: 1 pair of A. agassizii, 2 live endlers, 3 killifish (down from 7 previously) and 9 yamato shrimps.
    Tanks size: 1.5 ft tank
    Temp: 26C (using AC fan)
    pH: around 7

Should be internal bacterial. They are associated with swollen eyes, open sores, abdominal swelling, hollow abdomen, reddening, eroded fins,
loss of appetite and unexplained deaths.

I'm presently trying anti internal bacteria by Interpet for my apisto. The female was diagnosed with hollow stomach and loss of appetite. Been on dosage for a week already. But don't see much improvement. Or you could try the yellow powder bath. Seem to be a better medication. Hope your male recuperate soon. All the best.

    Cheers

coz i suspect the ocean free tank is abit too small but i dun have other tanks liao... in that tank i changed water 3 times a day from my main tank... but when i dont change the water i notice its not v happy, fins clamp, colour darken, etc...

so i placed it in a plastic tank and put it in the main tank (4ft) then bring out the plastic tank (or float it in the main tank) to medicate...

After placing him in the bigger tank, his condition got worse!!! Now the eye looks abit bloodied!!!

and to think i changed 10 percent of the water everyday...

Now swopped him over to my ada soil 1.5 ft tank running on a waterfall filter + eden 501...

    cheaper to medicate too

For some freak reason, I learnt from experience that transfering sick fishes from one tank to another usually expedites their departure... Mainly due to the stress of moving I supposed...

Sometimes I wonder if keeping them around in the same tank but doing partial water changes every other days would be better or not...
