I think it''s the normal L1.
Fish keeping is not a good hobby unless you received support from your family to keep them.
HI what you mean by normal l1? i'm not really sure about the L numbers

i googled that but the picture dont look similar...mine looked more like a brush mouth but i cannot find more info or the scientific name for it
It is Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus, black, long-finned variety

thanks man but i hardly see any bristles on it
It is still young, you need to wait for it to develop, and if yours is a female, she will develop only little bristles at the side.

when will they start developing bristles? cos mine looks quite big already... anybody know how to get them out into the open? i have two of them but always only able to see only one or none at all... need to see if its healthy
Plecos are sometimes shy, you cannot force them to come out in the open as you please, haha...
I think when they reach 3 inch you can safely confirm its gender...
Males will develop bristles on the forehead (Y-shaped lines of bristles) on top of the sides bristles.

if the pleco is able to finish it, no problem, go ahead and continue.

actually how to you feed your pleco? i have a small rocks gravel and the algae wafer if drop there the pleco wont eat and i have to put it on a flat piece of bogwood which sometimes he will knock it over and it will fall in the gravel and it cant eat it.. plus he only eat after lights out and i cannot be sure whether he eat the wafer or it has drop somewhere out of side and have disintegrated in the gravel

hi due to the fact that i see algae in my tank so i tried to reduce the amount of algae wafer that i have been giving my pleco. So can somebody tell me whether this pleco is eating enough? also does anybody know the number for this pleco? thanks. someone in the previous tread did say before its is a bristlenose pleco
as i mentioned earlier, it is Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus, black, long-finned variety
there is no L number for it.
i will merge this with your previous thread.
they will only help to clear brown algae and some green spot algae, you don't have to reduce the amount of algae wafer.
