Can I ask how long before it starts spreading? I planted my normal hairgrass about 2 weeks ago... it has not really spread yet. I may have made a mistake of planting it too densely. Can i remove it and replant again? If so, how little is a little clump? Also the tips are turning a little bit brown

Trim it and crank the CO2. Make sure the nutrients are non-limiting and thats it. Takes about 2-4 weeks to get a foothold and then it grows like wild fire.

    Peter,

My ph is 6.1 and kh is 2.5 which means co2 is already rather high. Its running at 1 bps. Dun think I can crank co2 up. Keeping apistos. Is my assumption rite?

If you are dosing well (Macros/Micros) and have enough light, there is nothing much left except for CO2. Readings can be off due to bad test kit, non-bicarbonate stuff influencing the KH and etc. In the end, its the plant that you are trying to grow and not to get a perfect test kit reading. So, what should we do? Look at the plant! It's the health of it that determines whether you are actually giving it enough. Carbon is 40% of a plants dry weight and N 1.5% and the rest lesser. Think about it. As long as the critters/fish are fine, you can add more CO2. Just make sure you do the increment slowly and be around the day you make changes to the CO2 setting.
