Sweet....
Black arowana, beautiful fish, yet seldom seen.
AMong my top favourites of all fishes, not just aros.
THis guy below now belongs to my girlfriend. A little over a year old. Now a bit over 18".
I cannot capture the true colour and shine of the fish due to my poor photo. skill.
It is different from the common silver aro in many ways.
It is of a metallic colouration...almost like gun-metal abeit lighter.
SLimmer built, body and fin proportion remains good.
Sweet....

how much did your gf buy it for? and where?
a year ago it was 29-50$ for a baby depends on size.
now i heard C328 is selling for $80 and they got snatched like hot cakes.
this fish is seasonal, and it is the season now.
If anyone wants to get this fish, get it fast! Heard that it might be put on the endangered list like asian aros soon...
no offence victor, but dun u think thats the reason y its gonna be on the endangered list? LOLs..
Dun buy [] [] []
never heard
read it on arofanatics though.
demand for this fish all along had been low , and about supply side i have not really came across too. But price remained low.
If something happened to the fish in the wild, it is not due to the trade.
black aro?? this is not what i think it is leh.. the one i saw at lfs has a black stripe and it eyes has a black stripe over its eyes... machiem like snake eyes.. unless that is a juvenile..

True, I see your point.
I think they will still be sold as per asian aros, maybe you need a cert and tag the fish in the future. This just makes keeping the fish more expensive.
Also heard that this fish is more fragile than the normal silvers, that could be the problem with propagating the fish
yeah lets wait and see
i hope this guys wont disappear from the face of the earth..
yeah victor i agree also they are weaker than silver..I had to put in more effort compared to silver during the raising stage.
i was hoping by posting some nice pics that attention will be brought to this fish, and it will become mainstream eventually. more attention-> breeding worth -> more ppl can enjoy -> will not disappear.
very limited contribution haha
My dad say Black Aro isn't valuable anymore and it's hard to find a black aro that has REAL VISIBLE black color on its back.
Lyon © I would rather walk a thousand leagues then to see your ugly face
i think to some of us here, it is not the value of the fish but beauty of the fish.. it can be just a 20cents guppy but to the owner, it is a real beauty.. as the saying goes, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder..to some ppl.. it is LH.. yucks.. as for me, i love marine fishes especially seahorses, but they are not expensive.. and on ethical side, i dun keep them anymore...
guess, we would appreciate the fish more if we like it.. not just the value of it.. another eg, i started to breed bumblebee gobies.. it is almost worthless.. hahaha.. but for the joy of it.. but i dun deny the fact that some ppl in the aquarium trade are trying to push up the value for some fishes and despite the ugliness, the price when sky high.. sigh.. no pun intended.. and no comments for the type of fishes that u perceived that i'm talking abt..

The title below my name does not make me a guru...listen at your own risk!...
i am not sure of the source for black aros.
I have not heard of any commercial breeding for blacks.
My speculation is that they may be wild harvested and then they are shipped and put up for sale in a rush...way before the optimal age where the fish is more stable.
But if someone has good evidence of commerical breeding, he/she can prove me wrong no problem.
Silvers are bred readily comercially though. And they are sold without yolk sacs.
Because babies that are still having the sacs are a lot more vulnerable.
