Setup my Aeneus Corys yesterday to spawn. And they spawned today !

About 30 eggs but expect only max 10 frys as the rest turns white.
Not bad for the female first time. []

    - Classic 80% Water change
    - Worms
    - 1 Female & 5 Male.(1st time Aeneus spawned for this group)

The group abt 4cm, quite small relatively.
With me for min. 1/2 year with no lost under many conditions. Very Hardy.

Keep them on Higher pH(7/ & Warmer water.
Then I throw in Lower pH(6), Cold and Soft water in 1 go instead of slow change. CAREFUL, many species cannot take it. My SAEs have no problem with the Shock so far.
Worms and Off the lights.Simple Right?

The Trilineatus species I have take lesser measure, to breed.

Protection Clause: May cause injuries/death directly or Indirectly due to above mentioned practise.

    Past experience:
Sharing of Trilineatus Breeding water alone, does not help Aeneus to breed.
Once the group breed, they just keep breeding every now and then.

First timer group is more hard. I have a breeding Tri. group in which I throw into the community tank with other species of corys. They continue to breed.

Eggs can be eaten up by other species before you know.
This is especially true if certain species only laid 10-20 eggs only and spawn them under leaves and the few that survived till hatch are probably hidden in very remote places that other Corys cannot find.

Fewer survived in their infant stage till swimming openly in Community tank.

Feeling: Chance increased alot more if you allow the frys reach free swimming stage about 2 days after hatch if you find caring the babies is a core.

I cannot confirm Tri. eat eggs. But I saw my Panda and Sterbai ate my Trilineatus eggs.[]

1st Gen. Trilineatus Cory grp I had a year ago, their frys are still a bit smaller than their parent after 9 months. Wow that is real long ...

Bad news is 1/7 left when I went home. Suspect overfeeding as my folks have no idea of caring them. Tanks were in a mess.[] I really miss the "horn" male and his 2 fav gravid "concubines".
Done thorough cleaning before I left. Still have about 8 offsprings from the batch of 30+est. but not sure they will still kick. The survival rate should be about 90% if properly taken care of.

Good News is, both tanks laid eggs again after I left. What so exciting about it is that one of the tank has Simils, Pygamous and Sterbai grps. Cannot pinpoint who is the "Culprit".

The other tank should be the Aeneus again ... Gee hopefully no inbreeding ...

I don't think any frys will survive though ....[]

    inbreeding is hard to avoid
that's how we end up with so many albino aeneus

i'm thinking most likely to be sterbai
pygmaeus eggs should be very very small
    keep us posted
if your pygmaeus can spawn a lot of people will want

    congrats!

speaking of spawning, is it safe to assume if 2 in a group of 5 C.pandas are sticking together, and one is slightly bigger then the other, (the dorsal area) are an item?
if so, would you reccomend taking them out or just leave them be and carry out the water changes as reccomended?
I'm currently feeding all the inhabitants, which are 10 kuhli locahes, 6 clowns and 5 pandas, one bumblebee goby and 2 otos, worms.
i'm guessing the goby would be a predator should they spawn.
    sorry for hijacking.

    not really
cories spawn in 3s or more
    but keep an eye out
if you notice the cories laying eggs, you can very well isolate them later

    CoryDorus,

Is your spawning tank filled with gravel or a bare tank?
I was wondering how to see the eggs if it is a tank filled with gravel.
