eh? fighting fish is a kind of Betta.

anyway what Betta do you have? there are 60 species of Betta and they live in a wide variety of environments.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

that's your normal fancy Betta splendens. I think just freshwater is fine as these are domesticated very long ago, no need to follow their natural habitat.

Sorry this is off topic, kinda.

I get dizzy just looking at the fish in the jar. I wonder if it feels the same?

Hold on.. i think i see a second Betta splendes in the jar adjacent. I assume ah_hup is refering to these as "fighting fish". But what do you mean by "Betta" when you say "i have a betta"

I think you should post pictures of all 3 fish.

hi dun worry the fish is not in a narrow jar.. the bottom is slim but the top of the jar is wide.

Think I spotted a crown tail in pic 3.
I think slight acidic water would make them happier.

I noticed 2 mistakes from your photo. Looks like the caudal fin of your fish has been cut before. It may have finrot or tailbite previously.

    1. Your bottles or jars are far too small. The water volume shall be at least 4 litres, the more the better. From my experience, the optimum water height for a long tailed shall be 6 inches high and short tailed will be more active if kept in the water level of around 4 inches. The pH can be anywhere between 6-7. When you are changing water, change not more than 50% of the water. Add ketapang juice or blackwater to the aged water if you want.

    2. You should prevent 2 fishes from been seeing each other. Open up the card in between (if u use card to block their view)to exercise them 10-15 seconds a day will do.

Maintaining a betta is good health not difficult. Just keep them from stress will do and they wont be sick easily. I bet you dont like to keep a betta that stays still all the time.
