Newbie to loose ferts or PMDD

Hi bros,

Need help in explaining the use of loose ferts like KNO3, KH2PO4 and mircos....
I'm not sure how to use this method (not sure whats its called)

Appreciate greatly if any experts can explain how to use this method? thanks

Currently I have Lushgro Aqua and Micro, Ferka's Aquatiliser and Balance K.... Thinking of getting Dr Mallick's KNO3 and KH2PO4 (or is there another alternative?)

Hi,

U can find a lot of info on the KH2PO4 and etc stuff in the site. Just go to search and use "KH2PO4" or "Lushgro" will give u a lot of info on how to use the KNO3 and KH2PO4. Some even give u a excel file to compose the DIY fert. Happy searching. If u cannot find the file, u can PM me cos i am not the owner of the file thus not good to attach here.

I'm planning to venture into using KNO3 and KH2PO4....Does any bros know where else I can get them besides NA? how about C328? Thanks!

Chemical shops, pharmacies or even grocery store?

Stuff like tree stump remover, fleet enema, epsom salt is some of what you are looking for.

Just make a force trip down to NA. You won't be disappointed. NA do sell 500 grams instead of 1kg of the dry fert. Do check out the Colourful aquarium nearby NA too, lots of stuffs to buy.

Both KNO3 and KH2PO4 came from below websites. NA sells but not sure if Colourful sells also.

Hmm...I think I'll have to call upon Dr Mallick again... Their place is much nearer than NA I got my set of LushGro Aqua and Micros from his place too.... So is it ok that I get both KNO3 and KH2PO4? Are others necessary? Thanks guys!

I read that the ideal target ppm are

NO3 5-30ppm
K 10-30ppm

are these targets suppose to be fulfilled daily or in week's time? thanks

Dose that amount 3 times a week on alternate days. My old schedule was:

Monday KNO3 and KH2PO4
Tuesday Traces
Wednesday KNO3 and KH2PO4
Thursday Traces
Friday KNO3 and KH2PO4
Saturday 50% water change, Equilibrium and KNO3 and KH2PO4
Sunday Traces

what the amount for each for a standard 2 ft tank?

the results i got was:
KNO3 1/8 tps
KH2PO4 1/32 tps

is it a reasonable amount?

Yeap about there. I used to dose 1/4 tps KNO3 because I was getting BGA among the glosso. You can assume that's the safe max limit I guess lol. For KH2PO4 I don't even bother to measure out precisely I just take a pinch or two and put it in.

No prob! The thing about EI imho is you need to get the CO2 part right. If you don't get it right, stuff grows like nuts, but BBA spoils it all. That has been my experience.

Yea....I need to change the diffusor as the co2 is only diffused at one corner instead of the whole plate, i'm using the misting method whereby the diffusor is placed under the internal filter, where the co2 gets sucks in and then circulate around the tank...

Same dosage I guess. No harm dosing twice the amount imho
