So how will you intend to inject the CO2?
will like to know the answer as well!Do you think a filter is necessary for this setup?
I'm wondering if all my tanks in my fish room need a filter, so here goes. 3ft tank with JUST moss and floating plants, cool water (25 Dgrees C), lights and CO2.
No substrate, no bioload, nothing that affects the water condition.
Will be doing a small water change every one week or two (I'm wondering if I even need to change water!) Do you think a filter is necessary for this setup?
Please DON'T suggest what I should do. I just want to find out if I ever need a filter. Thanks for the help in advance.

The Happiest of people don't neccessary have the best of everything;
they just make the most of everything that comes along their way
When will there be 25 letters in the alphabets?
No filter no respiration from bacteria (CO2) and no water movement (fine for emergent plants but moss could do better with some gentle water movement).

A pump to do water circulation instead of a filter?
May I suggesting here? Hmmm...
I'm using a diffusor and testing it on one of my tanks now. But I'm thinking if I can do the same for all the tanks in the room.
Trying to save electricity mah...
So it's not possible in the long run even with frequent water changes?

But the CO2 will not be distributed efficiently if the water is stagnant... The CO2 will be concentrated in one corner of the tank right?
I have floating plants as cover to catch all the CO2. All the CO2 are trapped in their roots.

Yes, a small internal filter since CO2 is used, also mosquito might breeds in stagnant water.
How about stirring the tank once in a while with a long stick?
Prandtl layer....no water movement, the CO2 around the plant leaves get depleted and does not grow well.

Hmmm. Thanks for all the feedback.
I guess it's a small filter to help with the CO2 distribution then!

bro,
maybe you can try to get this mini powerhead?

Fatherhood - The most challenging role a man can take on but, funnily enough, the most fulfilling too.

I have 2 small filterless tanks that house some killifish. Loads of moss and then floating Najas on top, and I mean it's completely full of plants, can hardly see the fish!
These tanks have been running like this for about 6 months with no problems, plant growth is slow but very healthy, no algae problems at all. I do notice that there is a very faint smell that comes form these tanks as opposed to running tanks with water flow. But so far the fish and plants are healthy. Shrimp will probably enjoy a setup like this too.
Good luck.
