Acquired some contaminants with a batch of pencil fish, body shape like pencil fish with with rows of dark red spots, a spot on the dorsal, suspect to be Copella arnoldi. Anyone with a clear picture of these fish? And anyone can tell me more regarding this fish.

Thanks Mick, are they jumpers? They seems like great fish for planted tank, schools well, I'm surprised importers are not bringing more in.

FS, this is not a very uncommon fish. Have seen them quite a few times.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Chung Sua used to have, but I think Biotope or TB Ben also will have. Benny used to have quite a few of them.

Is C. arnoldi the only one that spawns out of water? Was watching the documentary on Animal Planet that shows a spawning account of C. arnoldi on overhanging leaves, amazing.

quixotic, it's very easy to replicate that to the tank conditions, if you have a cover glass place a leaf on top of the glass and if the fish are ready the male will start courting the females in the tank with him.

no ken, the nattereri spawn on a leaf below the surface, after spawning the male guards the eggs until they hatch, then if he's left with them he'll eat the fry.
