I mean just look at how beautiful these fishes are...how can we NOT bring them in??? i just don't understand..

I've been looking for them for a good 2 years in singapore with no luck..

The only single piece i saw was at Ben's old place in his show tank...but he wasn't selling it then.. now everything is gone and he has moved with i don't know what in his show tank.

So does anyone know why we can't find any of the Characidium species or its cousins like Odontocharacidium or Elachocharax kinds of fish in Singapore??

Is it becuase of location of collection?? or are they just that hard to come by in the world as it is??

So easy to understand... No market lor... hahaha...
But also might be because our big brother Qian Hu (QH) is not exporting them? Maybe can check with the small traders? They might be able to get hold of them...

They are indeed very beautiful... The last picture is so goby-like... I like!

you can usually find the odd one as a contaminent, keep looking when they get imports of wild characins, especially nannostomus,
ive found the odd 1 or 2 that way.
and as you say a pretty fish that ressembles a loach.

Come to think of it, yeah, I have not seen any Characidium sp. for quite a while now.

I was just asking myself the same about livebearers the other day, why aren't they available as easily. Probably the mentality of local hobbyist equating livebearers as "longkang"/feeder fish? ("longkang" is colloquial for drain)

Maybe it is not deformed enough for our general public to accept?
