Well when I was installing my filter last night, I noticed traces of BGA on the right side of the tank on a grain of Aquasoil. It had begun to creep up on the glass in a thin layer about 0.5cm wide.
This morning it was gone. Interesting.
My non-CO2 Barr-based 2ft tank that is currently running on a cannister filter. I just thought of adding my Ehiem Liberty 100 to it, just to see what happens.
My cannister output is at the left back corner of the tank, through a vertically placed rainbar. Flow is good, but I can't see particles moving at the right side corner of the tank. My plan is to place the Liberty at the right back corner of the tank.
My reasons for doing so are:
1) Just for the heck of it.
2) I have a phobia of my BGA problem returning again.
3) I have surface film that I know can be removed by surface agitation, and I'm only willing to introduce agitation through the Liberty instead of fan/raising rainbar.
4) I believe the surface agitation is good for my non-CO2 tank.
But I'm wondering if there is such thing as too much circulation as PeterGwee has mentioned a number of times...
... or effects on fish regarding the flow from both sides.
Having said that, I'm going to go install it in with just mechanical filtration right after this post.
