Just wondering, are Crowntail bettas popular in Singapore?
Cannot get any other tail variation apart from Single (Standard) Tail here...am looking into getting some Bettas again (used to spawn them) but was hoping to find a crowntail male...
    Just wondering,

Well, there used to be a craze on them but had declined somewhat. Now in the betta world, I think deltas and half-moons are the staples.

However, crowntails are still being sold at some shops.

Crowntails in those big shops are ex. Buy bettas from small shops or sometimes if you're lucky, you can get $1 nice bettas.
Anyway, I've got a rare full moon. My dad got it for me from Malaysia

Sky Devil, full moon? lol, u mean the fish has a 360 degree tail? that's abit absurd. i guess the full moon is just a delta or normal veiltail with an excessively long tail. [:0]

Err...There is no such thing as a full moon. Halfmoon-yes. True 180 deg tail spread.

Full moon is the term mistakenly used by C328 for their superdeltas.

If you're interested in Crowntails, can go to C328 on Tues lunchtime. They have nice young CTs and Deltas for sale from $12-29. I've got a nice ext Red CT from them recently for $12

There is no fullmoon, and yes its quite sad that c328 has created new terms for betta which beginner picked up.

their butterfly is in fact a double tail.

crowntail are hard to keep, rays would curl and fin rot easily. dun believe? ask any crowntail keepers here. so breeders are disheartened and move on to halfmoon.

interested to see my fish? i have white halfmoon. in fact rainbow is selling a delta pure white betta for like more than $100 man. i can sell you a similar fish for $15! haha

i used to have a number of bettas too but never a halfmoon cos the price was too high for such a small fish i thk then .. but i have kept the normal ones, double tails, crowntails but my fav of all is the full black whh is so expensive. been to a private sale from a betta club, and the full black 1mth male was going for abt $120!!

but its true when after a while the hobby gets dull cos u can really mix the fish at all, and even during mating both the males' and females' fins will be torn and ur heart would ache []
To each her own fish !

vic, u got any male CTs? they don't have to be very spectacular, just healthy and fit, trim body
my male finally died 3 wks ago (getting >3in or so, might be old age) and the female looks very bored

    DEA,
I do have a turquoise male CT that I bought for Hee Meng. But he has since given up bettas and gone on to keeping his arowana in a planted tank and also guppy breeding.

If you're interested,I can pass that to you. It's a decently clean turquoise CT male

Its true crowntails' rays curl easily. However fish farms is able to produce good fish with minimum curl rays, so I think it depends on how the buyer keeps his or her fish. they are harder to keep than plakats. I am using a larger container and changing water everyday to avoid fins curling. As for fin rot, all betta has a chance of getting them, depends on the water condition. crowntails are more accessible than fullmoon. Just last saturaday, a shop in yishun central, Blk 934? sell CT for $2 each. comparable to clementi's $5-$12 fish but much better finage with no drooping tail. colour is so so. I think by now , the better ones has been taken, so maybe wait for next batch. A hint of fin rot. I saw the ad. on arofanatics betta forum.
