Can anyone ID this grouchy looking fish? Territorial. Tried to ambush some small fish in the tank. :O

p.s Colours are a bit off after converting the colour space for screen. It's a bit less yellow than shown on screen. Colour in 2nd pic is more accurate.

Looks a bit like a mini soon hock doesn't it?

I had a young soon hock too (about 5cm) but the colours are not so contrasting.

Of the trio that I got (all less than one finger long), 1 of them has less contrasting colouration. It didn't want to pose for the camera, so no picture to show.

Oh, did you get them at Yishun? They look so cute when they're young... But they turn into monsters after they grow a little older...

Yup. Looks like the marble goby alright.

    Good looking specimen and photography.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

eh... are they highly aggressive? I got 4 of them a few weeks back and they have been rather peaceful as of now. They are slightly smaller than my bumblebee goby at around 3cm.

Smaller than 3cm?!?! Hmm.. are you sure they are identified correctly as Soon Hock?

In any case, they will gobble anything that fits in their mouth and grow BIG. So do not mix them with smaller fishes if you do not want the other fishes to be their food.

Yap, i got it from a tank which labeled them as gobys. I see that the markings on my goby's are identical as the picture above. Are there other goby's with "rock like" markings other than the soon hock?

Maybe 3cm is still small. The above specimen is at least double that. It will maybe if you have something that is more bite size for them, it will not be the case.
I keep them with larger fishes now, and they seem fine.
